North Conway, NH – November 21, 2024 – The Berry Companies is thrilled to announce that Joe Berry, CEO, has been named the recipient of the esteemed Bob Morrell Award for a lifetime of civic entrepreneurship. This honor, presented annually by the Mt. Washington Valley Economic Council, recognizes an individual who has made an indelible impact on the community through exceptional leadership and dedication. Joe Berry will receive the award at the Council’s 34th Annual Meeting at the White Mountain Hotel and Resort on November 21.
The Economic Council’s Executive Director, Jac Cuddy, commended Joe’s enduring contributions, stating: “Joe Berry, through his companies, has been a community leader, growing his businesses to add to the valley’s tourism business community while lending a supportive hand to the arts non-profit community, so his selection as this year’s Bob Morrell Award recipient is well-deserved and long overdue.”
In addition to leading successful businesses such as the Eastern Slope Inn Resort and various other properties throughout North Conway and Bartlett, Joe’s commitment to community service and local support has been a cornerstone of the Berry Companies’ ethos. Under his leadership, the Berry Companies have partnered with numerous regional arts and nonprofit organizations, including the M&D Playhouse, the New England Ski Museum’s Eastern Slope Branch, the Hannes Schneider Meister Cup, and the MWV Trails Association’s Recreation Path project. Most recently, Joe and the Berry Companies pledged $50,000 to enhance the Northeast Woodland Chartered Public School facilities, located on the Economic Council’s Tech Village grounds.
Joe’s leadership team and family share in this commitment. Sons Alec Tarberry, President of the Berry Companies, and Ace Tarberry, Vacation Rental Manager and soon-to-be President of the Economic Council, embody the family’s dedication to the Valley and the company’s tradition of giving back.
Alec expressed, “My father has always said we don’t have an option of not giving back to the community.” Ace added, “My father always led by example when it came to giving back. No matter how busy he was with the challenges of growing his businesses in the Valley, he contributed countless hours of his time to local boards and community causes.”
We at the Berry Companies are honored to celebrate Joe’s achievements and contributions, and we congratulate him on receiving this well-deserved recognition from the Mt. Washington Valley Economic Council.
